Thunder And Explosions Continue On Camp Pendleton

Camp Pendleton troops regularly conduct training exercises on the base using live fire and high explosive munitions. 

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the noise can be very loud in Southwest Riverside County. What sounds like thunder is really the troops practicing for combat.

It's been unusually loud this past week for some local residents -- mostly those living west of the 15 Freeway.

Expect the noise to continue. The following the troops' training schedule through Aug. 9:

Saturday, Aug 3

 

            -Artillery Fire = 6 a.m. to midnight

            -Mortar Fire = 6 a.m. to midnight

            -Artillery Fire = 6 a.m. to midnight

Tuesday, Aug 6

 

            -Mortar Fire = 6 a.m. to midnight
