UPDATED ELECTION RESULTS: Jeffries' Lead Over Soubirous Widens

Jeffries' lead over Soubirous now stands at 503 votes. Post election night, with 100 percent of precincts reporting, 412 votes separated the second and third place finishers.

The spread between Kevin Jeffries and Mike Soubirous has widened in the race for the 1st District Supervisor’s seat, and the Assemblyman from Lakeland Village continues to edge out the retired lawman from Riverside.

With semi-official final results in from the Riverside County Registrar of Voters as of 6 p.m. Friday, Jeffries received 12,452 votes and Soubirous 11,949 in the June 5 election. Sitting 1st District Supervisor Bob Buster received 15,226 votes and continues to be the clear frontrunner.

Approximately 7,300 vote by mail, 7,000 Provisional, and 4,200 damaged ballots that require duplication must still be processed; the next updated results will be posted at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the Registrar’s office reported Friday night.

"I'm waiting until the votes are certified in 20 days before I say anything is finished. If by the time of certification, there's only 100 votes separating Mr. Jeffries and me, then I'd owe it to the voters to make sure everything is accurate (and ask for a recount)."

If Jeffries is the second-place finisher after certification, which appears highly likely, he will face incumbent Buster in a run-off election Nov. 6. The 1st District includes all of Lake Elsinore and Wildomar.

the aide to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) and the Lake Elsinore City Councilwoman still hold the one and two spots, respectively, in the race for the 67th State Assembly District.

Phil Paule now has 11,240 votes, or 28.17 percent; Melissa Melendez has 9,248 or 23.18 percent. The two will square off in the November election.

Lake Elsinore City Councilman Bob Magee, who was also vying for the 67th State Assembly seat, received 7,925 votes or 19.86 percent, according to the numbers out of the Registrar's office on Friday.
