A Wildomar woman accused of assault to produce great bodily injury pleaded not guilty to that charge and other felones in connection with harm to a child.
Yvonne Christine Shostrom, also known as Yvonne Royal; Yvonne Niemann; Yvonne Newman and Yvonne Virrey, appeared in court Monday to answer to the assault charge, as well as two counts of inflicting corporal injury on a child and a single count of willfully harming a child.
Riverside Superior Court Judge Jerry Johnson set bail at $50,000 and ordered her back to court July 16 for a felony settlement conference.
A preliminary hearing was tentatively set for July 20, according to court records.
According to the complaint, which is attached to this article in a PDF, Shostrom inflicted traumatic injury on the child, though it was not immediately clear whether the child is a relative.
Shostrum was arrested July 3 after sheriff's deputies from the Wildomar station went to the 21000 block of Dunn Street to check on the welfare of several children, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa McConnell.
Investigators determined Shostrom had committed crimes against children and arrested her on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other felonies.
