Wildomar Resident Accused Of Injuring A Child

Yvonne Christine Shostrom, 49, appeared in court Monday to answer to charges of assault, willfully harming a child and inflicting corporal injury on a child.

A Wildomar woman accused of assault to produce great bodily injury pleaded not guilty to that charge and other felones in connection with harm to a child.

Yvonne Christine Shostrom, also known as Yvonne Royal; Yvonne Niemann; Yvonne Newman and Yvonne Virrey, appeared in court Monday to answer to the assault charge, as well as two counts of inflicting corporal injury on a child and a single count of willfully harming a child.

Riverside Superior Court Judge Jerry Johnson set bail at $50,000 and ordered her back to court July 16 for a felony settlement conference.

A preliminary hearing was tentatively set for July 20, according to court records.

According to the complaint, which is attached to this article in a PDF, Shostrom inflicted traumatic injury on the child, though it was not immediately clear whether the child is a relative.

Shostrum was arrested July 3 after sheriff's deputies from the Wildomar station went to the 21000 block of Dunn Street to check on the welfare of several children, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Lisa McConnell.

Investigators determined Shostrom had committed crimes against children and arrested her on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other felonies.

Mr.A/N, Are you 'trying' to get repremanded again by The Patch editors? Isn't that just masochistic? I'm just trying to tell you that your behavior has no place here on The Patch.

Since the subject of drugs has been brought up, I think I will write a letter to our President and Congress to take a stand on the drug war as it affects our neighbor Mexico. First, I would ask President Obama to prepare a speach similar to JFK"S "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You....." Denouncing the buying and use of illegal drugs that fuel the violence occurning south of our boarder. It needs to be shouted from the getto to the Wall St fools. Congress should join in and make their own stand for each of the people they represent. Just saying

The War on Drugs has cost tens of billions of tax dollars and is a failure. I would like to hear from the National or State Drug Czar exactly what is the strategy for dealing with the growing meth problem. Is there a strategy? Disrupt the chemical supplies? Go after the leaders? Anything?
