3 LEUSD Teachers Honored For Hard Work, Years Of Service

The Lake Elsinore Rotary Club honored three Lake Elsinore Unified School District teachers for their years of hard work and dedication at the Teacher of the Month Program. November’s honorees are of Shirley Haines of Railroad Canyon Elementary, Valerie Murray of Donald Graham Elementary and Pamela Marks for Withrow Elementary.

Shirley Haines’s teaching career spans 22 years, and she’s been with LEUSD since 1997. Shirley is helping Railroad Canyon Elementary to become a certified “No Excuses University” school partner. The No Excuses University philosophy is to teach elementary children at an early age that they can go to college, and to support the mindset that accompanies being a college bound student throughout the duration of their K-12 experience. Principal Lori Recatto notes that she is a “cheerleader and the one kids will always remember when looking back to their school days.”

Valerie Murray is a Special Education teacher at Donald Graham Elementary. This is her second time receiving this honor. “Her passion for working with our special needs population is evident every day, says Jeri Peterson, principal. “She loves and challenge and is always pushing to do more.”

Pamela Marks has been teaching at Withrow for 20 years and currently teaches third grade. Principal Ahmet Baskent notes her enthusiasm for teaching and explains how she is “highly involved in every aspect of her school.”

“The Teacher of the Month program truly enlightens us to the remarkable teachers we have right here in the Elsinore Valley,” said president of the Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore, Mary Brown.
