Applications Now Being Accepted For Free Meal Program At Local Schools

The application process is underway for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

The following is a news release from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District:

Proper nutrition is essential for students to perform well in school. LEUSD is currently notifying all eligible families about the meal application process for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, which provide school-age children with free meals, under the auspices of the USDA.

Application forms are now being mailed to households, but Applications are also available at the registrar’s office in each school.

To apply for program benefits, a parent or guardian must complete the application form and return it to the school cafeteria or Food Services Department.

Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year. Program eligibility requirements and income levels are shown on [the attached PDF].

Program eligibility is determined by the household information submitted on the application, which is subject to verification at any time during the school year by program officials. This benefit may be discontinued if a family is no longer eligible due to a change in circumstances, or if the application is subsequently disqualified.
