CIF Pairings Announced: Go Elsinore Tigers!

With only one home team left to cheer in this year's playoffs, Lake Elsinore and Wildomar football fans are hoping for a repeat of last year when the Elsinore Tigers claimed the CIF Southern Section Eastern Division Championship.

It’s playoff season in high school football, and with that came Sunday’s release of the CIF Southern Section Eastern Division pairings.

With only one home team left to cheer in this year’s playoffs, Lake Elsinore and Wildomar football fans are hoping for a repeat of last year when the Elsinore Tigers claimed the CIF Southern Section Eastern Division Championship by beating Fontana Summit High School, 21-7. Elsinore has three games to win before moving on to the championship. In the first round of division play this year, the Tigers will host West Valley High School Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

Elsinore is ranked second in the Sunbelt League. West Valley is ranked second in the Mountain Pass League.

The winner of Friday’s game will advance to second round play on Nov. 25, taking on the winner of the Nov. 18 matchup of Granite Hills High School against Serrano High School at home.

Serrano is ranked number one in the Mojave River League; Granite Hills is ranked third in the Desert Sky League.

Second round winners will advance to the Dec. 2 semifinals. The championship game will be held Dec. 10.
