Dartmouth and Nebraska Sign Lakeside High Softball Players

Two softball players from Lakeside High School signed with two universities under academic and athletic scholarships.

Lakeside High School has a lot to celebrate! Softball players Austen Urness and Alyssa Loyless signed with NCAA Division I universities, it was announced Jan. 18.

Catcher, outfielder and Lake Elsinore resident Urness signed with the University of Nebraska with a full athletic scholarship.

Urness is a two-time Scholar Athlete Award winner and a member of All-League Team Selection.

Outfielder Loyless will attend Ivy league school Dartmouth College on an academic scholarship studying astrophysics.

She is a three-time, first-team All-League Selection and was selected twice on the All-CIF Southern Section first team.

“These young ladies have been an integral part of our softball program
for the last few years and their academic excellence is as impressive as their prowess on the field,” said Assistant Principal at Lakeside High School Cristian Miley in a statement.
