Jason Moscowitz Dedication Ceremony Set

The memorial plaque and new building lettering installed during winter break were approved by the Lake Elsinore Unified School District's governing board last fall.

The gymnasium at Lakeside High School now bears the name of the late Jason Moscowitz, the popular former principal

District officials will rededicate the Jason R. Moscowitz Gymnasium Thursday, Jan. 12, during a halftime ceremony at the boys varsity basketball game inside the newly christened gym.

The Lakeside vs. Perris game starts at 6:30 p.m.

A permanent bronze memorial plaque will be unveiled during halftime as part of the official dedication ceremony. Moscowitz family members will also be in attendance.

in the three years he served LEUSD’s newest high school, Lakeside HS, which opened in 2006. He was instrumental in defining the character of a true Lancer—one of self-confidence, individual determination, and unbound aspirations—” the district stated in a news release this week.

In 2011, Lakeside officially became an Advancement Via Individual Determination National Demonstration School and school API scores also rose during Moscowitz’s tenure.

Moscowitz accepted a new position with the Hemet Unified School District last summer, but according to LEUSD officials remained a Lancer at heart.

Shortly after Moscowitz's passing, LEUSD Coordinator of Community Relations Mark Dennis said, "I don't think anyone at Lakeside has let hold of Jason."
