Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber Of Commerce Honors LEUSD Students

The students were honored as part of the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month Program.

The month of April saw seven Lake Elsinore and Wildomar high school seniors honored for their “character, love of learning, leadership, community service, and their ability to persevere through challenging circumstances.”

The students were honored as part of the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month Program, which asks teachers and school staff to identify top students in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District each month.

The program is now in its 15th year.

The April 2011 student honorees are:

Shay Prokopchuk, Temescal Canyon High School

According to the news release, Shayhas a passion for natural sciences, biology and chemistry. He plans to attend MSJC in the fall.”

 

Nicole Cernac, Temescal Canyon High School

Nicole plans to attend UC San Diego or Pepperdine this fall, and will major in pre med, the news release stated.

“While at TCHS, she has polished her leadership skills as class president for four years,” the news release stated, noting that Nicole has also participated in various other school activities.

 

Zoe Welsh, Gordon Kiefer Independent Study School

Zoe’s ultimate career goal is becoming a nurse practitioner, and she will attend college at Utah Valley in the fall to study nursing, the news release stated.

Faculty members praised her knowledge and depth of understanding, the release said.

 

Cory Hurley, Lakeside High School

Cory is bound for Saddleback College as a film and video major. According to faculty and staff, “Cory has a reputation as one of the hardest working -- if not the most motivated -- students at LHS,” the release stated.

 

McKenzie Kaiser, Lakeside High School

McKenzie plans to study communications and political science at Riverside Community College.

“Despite a serious accident that could have been permanently debilitating, she has engaged high school with a fierce passion for ASB, drama, water polo, swim, and Lancer Pride,” the news release stated.

 

Kristoffer Wilkerson, Elsinore High School

Kristoffer is a class valedictorian who plans to attend either UC San Diego or UC Irvine to study electrical engineering and computer engineering as a double major.

“An AVID student, he is passionate about his dream of taking the lead in the next green tech ‘big thing,’ or becoming a startup venture entrepreneur,” the news release stated.

 

Brooke Rendon, Elsinore High School

Brooke is an AVID student and plans to attend San Diego State University on her path to becoming a nurse.

“Described by her counselors as ‘generous and completely selfless,’ Brooke recently became a bone marrow donor because she wanted to help a friend,” the news release stated. She has carried a 4.0 grade average.
