LEUSD Seeks Nominations From Local Community For 'Heroes In Education'

Nominations can include students, teachers, administrators, parents, volunteers, school staffers, and community/business leaders or partners.

LEUSD is now accepting nominations for the 5th annual Heroes in Education awards program. Nominations may be submitted by completing the online form available on LEUSD’s Web site, www.leusd.k12.ca.us. Nominations from anyone are welcome, so long as they are received by the deadline of Friday, September 6, 2013.

Co-sponsored by the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Heroes in Education recognition program celebrates individuals, community partners, and businesses that demonstrate a passion for education, support for our schools, and dedication to students. 

Nomination categories include: Students (individual awards for Elementary, Middle & High School grade levels), Teachers (individual awards for Elementary, Middle & HS), Administrators (both Classified & Certificated), Parent/Volunteers, Classified Staff, Confidential & Exempt Staff, and Community & Business Partners.

Winners will be recognized during the 5th annual Heroes in Education Gala & Awards Ceremony, on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 6 p.m., at the Lakeside High School Rotary Performing Arts Center, in Lake Elsinore. Schools First Federal Credit Union is a major underwriter for this program.

Judges include past recipients, LEUSD senior cabinet members, and community stakeholders. Typically, 14 or more honorees have been selected by the judging panel each year.

The Heroes in Education program is part of LEUSD’s annual Celebrate Our Schools Week, held the fourth week of October, featuring special events for parents, students, and the community to build pride in LEUSD’s successes, and to recognize the people who are making a difference. --Contributed content from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District
