The THINK Together after-school program at Wildomar Elementary invites the community to join it Thursday as it marks the 14th annual nationwide "Lights On Afterschool" event.
More than 1 million people are expected to participate in more than 7,500 events scheduled in cities and towns across the country and on United States military bases worldwide, according to Afterschool Alliance, an organization whose stated mission is to ensure all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs.
Wildomar Elementary School's THINK Together program will host a Medieval-themed event—a knighting ceremony for the Kingdom of THINK-a-lot—from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.
"It is a free event at which you would enjoy learning about the different programs we offer, go back to the Medieval times, and hear from students why afterschool is important to them," said April Hueftle Watkins, site coordinator of THINK Together at Wildomar Elementary.
Thursday's schedule of events is as follows:
4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Renaissance games
4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Performance and awards ceremony
5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Dinner
Wildomar Elementary School is located at 21575 Palomar Road in Wildomar. For more information, email Wildomar@thinktogether.org or call April Hueftle Watkins at 951-526-8212.
