Public Educated About Bicycle Safety At Wildomar Event

Children of all ages enjoyed several hours of fun at Wildomar's fourth annual Bicycle Safety Event Saturday.

With the theme “Learn to Ride Right!” as this year's mantra, many school children maneuvered through courses and watched the BMX PROS Trick Team perform bicycle stunts.

This is the fourth Bicycle Safety event in Wildomar and the third such event sponsored by the Wildomar Rotary.

April Watkins and Bridgette Moore acted as co-organizers of the event, held in a parking lot near on Clinton Keith Road in Wildomar.

After a welcome by Andrew Morris, a Rotarian and leader in Cub Scout Pack 323, two women who lost loved ones to bicycle accidents spoke to the audience.

Aaron McCoubrey lost his life in an accident in August 2009.

Their mothers spoke to the crowd about the importance of caution on the roads and of weating helmets; not just younger riders, but older children as well.

Children in attendance were fitted for free bicycle helmets at the event and many vendors had free offerings for those in attendance.

Garrett Cox, April Watkins, Robin Hamer-Lemeur and Tim Underdown were recognized for their years of service to the event.
