Wildomar Elementary Schools Make Big Test Score Gains

API scores were released this week and Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts saw the biggest gain.

Some Lake Elsinore Unified School District schools once again are at the top of the pack when it comes to test scores.

On Thursday, the California 2012 Accountability Progress Report for schools statewide was released. The report shows the 2011-2012 Academic Performance Index (API) scores.

Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts -- the only charter school in the LEUSD -- was recognized by Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth M. Young as being in the top five elementary schools in the county for 2011-2012 API change: The school achieved a 47 point gain over last year's score.

, and Sycamore Academy Principal Barbara Hale attributed the API increase to collaboration.

"We are very proud of our learning community and the growth that our students have demonstrated can be directly attributed to the collaborative efforts of our students, families, faculty, staff, the community of Wildomar and the continued support of our authorizing agency, Lake Elsinore Unified School District," she said.

Other schools that saw 20-plus point gains in API scores as compared to last year included Donald Graham Elementary School in Wildomar (+21); William Collier Elementary School in Wildomar (+23); and Canyon Lake Middle School in Lake Elsinore (+20).

Ronald Reagan Elementary in Wildomar nearly reached the 20-plus mark with a 19 point improvement.

Below are the test results for all LEUSD schools as published by the California Department of Education:

I loved the staff but had to go back to public school because of the drive. Unfortunately both my boys were behind when they started school this year. Strange.
