Young Musicians Claim Awards In Lake Elsinore

"These students show the true talent we have here in Lake Elsinore."

The following is a news release from the Lake Elsinore Rotary Club:

The Lake Elsinore Rotary Club held its annual music talent competition on February 12 at Ortega High School and awarded eight Lake Elsinore Unified School District students. The competition which allows students to show off their vocal or instrumental talents featured students from all three LEUSD high schools.

This year’s winners included vocalists Briana Anderson of Lakeside High School, Ashley Hernandez of Elsinore High School, Nathan Smith of Elsinore High School and Teresa Lafferty of Temescal Canyon High School. Anderson and Hernandez will be moving on the District 5330 Rotary competition where they will compete with students from around the region.

The instrumental winners for this year’s challenge were Aaron Scott of Lakeside High School, Educardo Ayala of Lakeside High School and Hobie Lindholm of Lakeside High School. Scott will be competing at the District level with his bagpipes!

The piano division winner for the local competition was Lyle Brewer of Elsinore High School.

“These students show the true talent we have here in Lake Elsinore. We are proud of our performers who will move on to the District level and represent our city,” said Dee Thomas, Music Competition Coordinator for the Lake Elsinore Rotary Club.
