Sheridan Slams Calvert's Dismal Record on Seniors Issues

Senior Americans- the individuals who worked so hard to make this country great- deserve a member of Congress who will champion their interests by passing legislation that honors their hard work.

Tim Sheridan, the California Democratic Party's nominee in the race for California’s 42nd Congressional District, criticized twenty-year incumbent Congressman Ken Calvert’s record on issues affecting senior citizens today following a report from the Alliance for Retired Americans.  A nationwide non-profit organization with over 4 million members, the Alliance for Retired Americans issues an annual report and scorecard assessing the voting record of every member of Congress on issues important to American seniors.  Mr. Calvert's 2013 score of 10% was among the lowest in Congress.

“Senior Americans,” Sheridan said, “have worked hard to make this country great.  They deserve a member of Congress who will champion their interests in Congress. Mr. Calvert's lifetime rating of 7% over the 20 years that he has been in Congress clearly demonstrates that he is not concerned with the issues that are important to retired Americans." Sheridan added, “Simply put, Mr. Calvert is out of touch. When I'm in Congress, I will make issues important to seniors a priority, including protecting Social Security and Medicare."
