It was a tough weekend for the Lake Elsinore Storm on the road, as they fell to their I-15 rivals in a three game sweep.
In game three Sunday against Rancho Cucamonga, the Storm were up by three runs in the eighth inning only to see the Quakes tag on five runs late in the bottom half and complete the victory, 7-5.
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez made his second rehab assignment with the Quakes going 2-for-3 with an RBI double.
Storm shortstop Jace Peterson hit his first home run of the season on a ball that sailed over the right field fence, putting the Storm up early, 1-0.
The Quakes would take the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third after back-to-back RBI doubles by Ramirez and Darnell Sweeney.
But Lake Elsinore would respond with an RBI triple by B.J. Guinn, scoring Duanel Jones and then an RBI single by Travis Jankowsi, scoring Guinn, taking the lead back from the Quakes, 3-2.
The Storm would add on a run in each of the sixth and eighth innings, setting the stage for Rancho’s five-run eighth outburst and ultimately the Quakes victory.
Lake Elsinore has now lost 11 straight games on the road and are 3-7 against the Dodger affiliate this season.
Following an off day on Monday, The Storm will head back to The Diamond to host seven games starting on Tuesday, April 30. First pitch will be scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 5 p.m. as the Storm send ace RHP Matt Wisler to the hill to began a three game series against the High Desert Mavericks.
