Lake Elsinore's Jedd Gyorko Selected To California League All-Star Game
The Storm third baseman leads the league in several categories this season.
Lake Elsinore Storm third baseman will represent the team at the 2011 California League Midseason All-Star Game.
The annual game, which pits the High Class A California League against the top players in the Carolina League, is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21 in Modesto. The matchup has taken place 14 times since the format began in 1996 with the series tied at 6-6-2.
Two months into the season, Gyorko – a West Virginia University alumni – leads the California League in games played (59), at bats (247), runs scored (57), hits (91), doubles (28), RBI (60) and total bases (160).

“Jedd is a threat every time he walks to the plate,” Storm interim manager Phil Plantier said. “To be a league leader in virtually every offensive category in his first full season is a great start to his professional career.”
Gyorko is on pace to break multiple club records if he remains in Lake Elsinore a full season.
