Storm And JetHawks Tie In Playoffs

The series is now tied with one game apiece. The winner will be decided in Lancaster tonight when the Storm's Burch Smith takes on the JetHawk's David Martinez.

There will be one more game to decide the winner of the California League South Division playoffs.

In the featuring the Lake Elsinore Storm and the Lancaster JetHawks, Thursday night saw the opponent claim a 5-1 win on its home field.

During Thursday's game, Storm starter Chris Fetter had his best outing in a Storm uniform pitching five solid innings giving up only one run on four hits.

The scores broke in the fifth with the Storm capturing a run in the top of the inning. Cory Spangenberg reached on a force out and the Storm put two runners on when Luis Domoromo drew a walk. That would be the last time a Storm runner would reach second in the game, as they capitalized first. Everett Williams singled to center to drive in Spangenberg for the 1-0 lead.

The JetHawks tied the game up quickly in the bottom of the inning when Jonathan Meyer would score on a one-out single by Roberto Pena.

Reliever Greg Gonzalez pitched two impressive innings giving up three hits but held Lancaster scoreless in the sixth and the seventh.

Lancaster earned the lead on a battle between Storm pitcher Jeff Ibarra and batter Erik Castro who battled through a 10 pitch at bat that Castro succeeded with a two-run double as Lancaster scored four runs in the eighth for the win.
