Storm Baseball Announces 2011 Roster

Storm Baseball Opening Day is April 7.

Storm fans began singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" today as the home team, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced its official 2011 Opening Day roster.

The 25-man unit includes 13 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders and three outfielders with seven of those players being returnees from 2010.

Pitchers include returners Hayden Beard, Chris Fetter, Zach Herr, Matt Lollis and Jeremy McBryde followed by newcomers Jose DePaula, Erik Hamren, Pedro Hernandez, Miles Mikolas, Stiven Osuna, Dustin Pease, Jerry Sullivan and Michael Watt.

Catchers include Ross Brayton, Jason Haggerty and Daniel Killian.

Filling out the infield is Dean Anna, Nate Freiman, Jonathan Galvez, Jedd Gyorko, Edinson Rincon and Jeudy Valdez.

Reymond Fuentes joins returning outfielders Rymer Liriano and Rico Noel to round out the 2011 roster.

Carlos Lezcano enters his fifth season with the Storm and his 19th as a minor league manager. The two-time California League Manager of the Year (1996, 2010) owns a 934-830 career managerial record.

Also returning to The Diamond for a fifth season is athletic trainer Will Sinon.

Phil Plantier and Bronswell Patrick both join the Storm for their first season as hitting and pitching coach respectively.

Opening Day is scheduled April 7, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.; gates open at 5 p.m.
