Storm Can Clinch Spot In California League Finals

Lake Elsinore hosts the Quakes Tuesday night at The Diamond, holding a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Southern California playoff series.

The Storm are one victory away from a trip to the California League finals, as they host the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes tonight at The Diamond. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Lake Elsinore leads the best-of-five series, 2-1, following Monday night's win at Rancho Cucamonga.

Shortstop Jeudy Valdez broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double for the 3-2 lead. Earlier, second baseman Jonathan Galvaz hit a two-run homer.

Dustin Pease notched his first win of the season and Jason Ray finished the ninth for the save.

Tonight, the Storm hand the ball to starter Nick Schmidt, who was stellar in his first playoff appearance last week. Schmidt has a 1.29 earned-run average in the playoffs with nine strikeouts and one walk.

The winner of this series will play either Stockton or San Jose in the California League finals.
