Thousands Sprinting Through Lake Elsinore, Wildomar Friday Night During 200-Mile Ragnar Relay

The race began in Huntington Beach early this morning, then headed east toward Norco, and began making its way to Lake Elsinore this afternoon.

Friday afternoon is very hectic around the Boys & Girls Club at Alberhill Ranch, and the craziness will continue south through Lake Elsinore and Wildomar tonight, all the way down to San Diego, as thousands of runners participate in the 200-mile Ragnar Relay Series.

By 5 p.m. Friday, hundreds of racers were rehydrating at the Boys & Girls Club, one of dozens of stations set up along the race route.

Ragnar participants – many dressed in costume -- are relaying in teams; as they reach the Boys & Girls Club, designated drivers in white vans pick up tired runners and their rested teammates take over. The relay continues to San Diego and is expected to finish in Coronado on Saturday. --Courtney Faith Vera contributed to this report.
