Meteorologists Say Desert Rats Should Expect To Fry This Weekend

Heading to the desert to play this weekend? The National Weather Service has an advisory for you.

High pressure building over inland areas will bring triple-digit temperatures to the Coachella Valley this week, meteorologists said today.

Highs Friday and Saturday are forecast to top out around 105 degrees in higher elevations and 108-112 in the lower ones, according to the National Weather Service.

"These high temperatures will fall short of setting any records," an NWS advisory said. "However, temperatures in this range can still be hazardous if proper precautions are not taken."

The agency advised anyone planning outdoor activities Friday or Saturday to drink plenty of water and to take frequent breaks in the shade.

A cooling trend is expected Sunday and Monday as a low-pressure system now off the coast moves inland. --City News Service
