Your Mayor looks a little bit like Obama.
Martha L. Bridges July 01, 2012 at 03:18 AM
Is that comment a general observation or some sort of code language meant to be racist and disparaging to both of these men?
Cat July 01, 2012 at 04:02 AM
Its a general observation. Not everyone nor everything has some sort of secret underlying meaning. There are no conspiracies here. I said nothing racist or disparaging. Why are so cynical?
Roberto July 01, 2012 at 04:06 AM
Racist? You immediatly jump on the race wagon for what?. There is nothing racist about saying Mayor Tisdale looks like Obama. As a matter of fact he does and so what!

Teller of Truth July 01, 2012 at 04:28 AM
@ Cat-Pointing out the fact that the Mayor & the President do look alike is not being racist. Don't feel intimidated by other peoples' knee jerk reactions. Obviously Martha appears to have a limited point of view.
cynthia sanchez July 01, 2012 at 04:29 AM
O brother! There goes Roberto AGAIN thinking racist. Remember the coach that slept with the student & u played that race card??
Soccer Mom July 01, 2012 at 04:30 AM
OMG!!!! Martha, do u really need to go there???? How do u know that it didnt mean a compliment?? Open mouth and insert your foot.
Teller of Truth July 01, 2012 at 04:34 AM
@Cynthia, Roberto didn't play the race card. It was Ms. Bridges that implied the racism here. Just to clear that up.

Rebecca perry July 01, 2012 at 08:43 PM
Comment, at first glance the Mayor looks similar to Obama. -Not Racist
Yvonne July 01, 2012 at 09:02 PM
I thought the very same thing, he looks just like Obama lol! :)
Lubster July 02, 2012 at 03:06 AM
As much as I like to see improvements for public use of the lake (and I miss the old state park!), my concern is with how much revenue this will take from the private launches around the lake in these hard times. Most of them have been here for decades and there has been a significant decline in boaters on the lake. The city already receives revenue from it's launch on Lakeshore Dr. Was this a necessary expense of our tax dollars when police and fire depts. have taken cuts, and were the local launch operators already in existence even considered?
Diana July 02, 2012 at 08:44 PM
@Lubster, agreed that the RDA money could of been spent in other areas of the City but this launch as it stood has caused deaths, I believe 3 but may be wrong. Maybe it did not have to be redone in such a grand fashion but it did need to be made safe for all those that visit. I wish our Council members would have the same vision for the rest of the town as it had for the Boat Launch, across the street from the camp ground ghetto, beautiful stadium, across the street ghetto, really poor planning and mismanagement of funds and areas that are in need. No since in throwing all this money at beautification when others from out of town have to go through ghetto to get to it.
Diana July 02, 2012 at 09:25 PM
Martha, Oh here we go, can we not discuss one thing on the Patch without you feeding us your negative insight and having to protect your precious Obama...really! Stick to your town Wildomar and stay out of Lake Elsinore please.
GoKings951 July 02, 2012 at 09:38 PM
i just bought my first home here in Lake Elsinore and really like the potential that it has. I've lived in Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Newark, NJ, so i i really don't think Elsinore is all that "ghetto", i've seen and lived in much worse. I felt bad on the grand opening of this launch. I went there around 2pm (i think the festivities started at 1pm) and there was literally like 20 people there. It looked as if they expected this big turn out and it was a complete dud. Although i don't think they marketed it all that well. I work in Temecula and whenever i talk about the lake down there they talk about how nasty it is...green water...dead fish...etc. I wish there was something they could do to make the water a tad more blue? Nonetheless, i'm trying to get a boat and make the best of it while living here.
Diana July 02, 2012 at 10:05 PM
Well you are so right comparing it to Santa Ana and Los Angeles I guess we would look like a resort town, have you ever driven through the area above Main St, or drove through the bird tract? You might experience a bit of them old feelings from places you have lived before, just sayin. As for the turn out for the launch, this is how we roll in LE pretty much everything that goes on here is a secret and you either find out about it after it's taken place or by word of mouth.
Dont Drink the Green Water July 02, 2012 at 10:38 PM
I was warned when I moved to Elsinore to stay away from any street named after birds or presidents, and they were 100% right. I have now moved on to safer and cleaner, but still have to deal with the dirty city governments. Some things you just cant get rid of.
KJ July 04, 2012 at 11:25 PM
I wish, Elizabeth! At first glance Mayor Tisdale does resemble President Obama. Little tidbit: did you know Lake Elsinore holds the honor of electing the first Black city mayor in all of California when Tom Yarborough was elected in 1966.
