• The City of Wildomar receives a $23,000 Grant

PRESS RELEASE

The City of Wildomar has been awarded a $23,000 grant from the Public Agency Risk Sharing Authority of California (PARSAC), which the City is a member of, for three projects that will improve the City’s loss control efforts.
The activities that the grant will fund include:
1. Pavement failure at Marna O’Brien Park;
2. Playground equipment inspection at the parks;
and 3. Speed radar signs at David A. Brown Middle School.
The first item will take away a potential trip and fall or vehicle damage to those using the park by fixing and stabilizing the pavement failure at the park.
This assists the City in keeping the liability lower and injuries and damage down. The second item will allow the playground equipment, access, and fill zones to be inspected for current compliance. This will identify repairs and/or replacements needed to be made before the park is reopened. The third item addresses the issues associated with vehicles on Grand Avenue at David A. Brown Middle School.
 By placing speed radar signs at both ends of the school, approaching traffic will be warned well in advance of the School Zone. The children on foot, or on bicycles, will benefit from the vehicles slowing down for the School Zone. Additionally, these signs are not permanent and can be relocated to another area should the need arise. By receiving this grant it will free up precious Measure Z, Gas Tax, Measure A and General Fund monies that would have been used for these projects. For additional information contact Debbie Lee, City Clerk/HR/Risk Manager.

At the last city council meeting,Council Member Bridgette Moore brought the idea of the Speed Radar Signs to the attention of the rest of the council. None of the other members seemed willing to spend the money for even one sign (an estimated cost of $4200 a piece) and it appears that there will be two. If only people weren't in such a terrible rush in the first place... but that's a silly notion.☺

It's always reassuring to see the diligent work of our city staffers as it comes to fruition. This was the work of City Clerk Debbie Lee, she is on the PARSAC board.... the city thanks those that are working for us.
