The city and School District, through joint use agreement, have developed a five-acre portion of the site offering tennis courts, play equipment, shaded shelters, barbecues, restrooms, picnic facilities and parking. Head Start is designed to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children of low income families through the provision of health, educational, transportation, nutritional, social and other services based on family needs assessments.
Children ages 3 to 4 years of age are eligible for Head Start; priority is given to 4-year-olds. Children with disabilities are offered at least 10 percent of the slots in the Head Start Program.
