Occupy Movement To Protest Bush's Visit To Region

Protesters claim Bush's appearance at an Ernst & Young conference scheduled for Friday represents the 1 percent of Americans who control political power and wealth.

Occupy members plan to protest the visit of former President George W. Bush to the region this week.

The protest organized by Occupy Coachella Valley is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday at an Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum at the in Palm Desert. 

Bush, who recently authored the book Decision Points, is scheduled to speak at the forum starting at 8:30 a.m. He will take part in a session called “Fireside chat” with President George W. Bush, which will be moderated by James S. Turley, Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young.

The three-day Ernst & Young conference runs Nov. 8-12 at the Palm Desert resort, and will also feature professional tennis player Serena Williams, former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Troy Aikman and Academy Award-winning director Francis Ford Coppola.

A special performance for Veterans Day is set for Friday, Nov. 11 by Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh of The Eagles.

The cost to attend the entire conference, which is sold out, is $3,695. It is not open to the public.
