UPDATE: Sheriff's Helicopter Spots Thunder's Missing Quad

Storm Baseball insisted from the beginning that the missing quad story was never a publicity stunt.

After a police chase that included an overhead assist from a sheriff’s department helicopter, Thunder’s quad has finally been found.

According to a Lake Elsinore Police Department report, Saturday afternoon a Riverside County Sheriff's Department sergeant tried to stop the driver of a black Kawasaki quad in the area of Akley and Zeller streets in Lakeland Village, but the off-roadster got away by taking to the nearby rugged hillsides.

With the quad out of view and inaccessible to police cars, a Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter was requested to fly over the steep terrain to track down the slippery suspect. The aircrew eventually spotted the quad about one mile west of Akley Street, and police ground units were safely guided into the area.

The quad – which was green when it went missing Feb. 8 from The Diamond Stadium grounds – is a 2007 Kawasaki 750. A reward was offered by Storm Baseball staff for information leading to the recovery of the quad.
