The leak found at approximately 8:30 a.m. is near Como and Central streets.

A water line leak in Wildomar discovered Thursday morning is being repaired and some homes will be without service until later this evening, a district official said.

The leak found at approximately 8:30 a.m. is near Como and Central streets.

"It appears to be a 16-inch steel drinking water line, but we do not know the cause at this time," Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District spokesman Greg Morrison said by email Thursday morning.

Nearby California Lutheran High School is also affected but Morrison said EVMWD is high-lining the campus to keep it in service.

During the excavation and repair work, Morrison said only one traffic lane will be closed to minimize the impact on motorists.

"We expect repairs to last into the evening at this time," Morrison added, noting that a firm timetable will be determined after crews dig up the pipe and establish the extent of repairs to be made.
