Man Arrested in Stabbing at Recovery Home in Lakeland Village

Deputies arrested Jiles Michael Kamal of Lake Elsinore on suspicion of attempted murder and for an outstanding drug-related warrant.

A 29-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a fellow resident at a men's recovery home in Lakeland Village was behind bars Thursday.

Deputies were called around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 18900 block of Grand Avenue to investigate a stabbing report, said Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. David Cardoza.

They found the stabbed victim and arrested Jiles Michael Kamal of Lake Elsinore on suspicion of attempted murder and for an outstanding drug-related warrant, Cardoza said.

After the stabbing, one of the home's other residents detained Kamal until deputies arrived, Cardoza said.

Kamal and the victim were involved in some kind of religious activity when the stabbing occurred, he said.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Cardoza said.

Kamal was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta and was due in court on Friday in Murrieta, according to sheriff's online booking records.
