Man Shot Multiple Times Near Lake Elsinore, Suspect Sought

Investigators believe the 34-year-old man had been involved in an argument of some sort with people at a house in the area, and was shot at while walking away.

A man has been hospitalized after being shot multiple times near Lake Elsinore, sheriff's officials report.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. John Monarrez, the shooting was reported around 6:37 p.m. Wednesday in the 32000 block of Rome Hill Road in the county area near Lake Elsinore.

Investigators believe the 34-year-old man had been involved in an argument of some sort with people at a house in the area, and was shot at while walking away.

"The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for surgery," Monarrez said.  "The victim is currently stable and is expected to survive."

Upon responding to the scene, sheriff's deputies initiated a search of the area for a suspect, but they "...received conflicting statements on the suspect’s description and direction of travel," and couldn't locate the person.
