Supporters Break Ground On Lake Elsinore Community Garden

A groundbreaking ceremony for .75-acre Lake Elsinore Community Garden took place Sunday morning at the city's Rosetta Canyon Park.

On Sept. 29, Lake Elsinore officials and supporters of a community garden at Rosetta Canyon Park turned out to see their hard work pay off.

A groundbreaking ceremony for .75-acre Lake Elsinore Community Garden took place Sunday morning at the park.

The event was a kick-off to the installation of three-rail white vinyl fencing for the garden, the materials of which were donated by Lowe's in Lake Elsinore through its Heroes program, according to Sylvia Monaco.

Monaco conceived of the idea of the garden following the tragic death of her great grandson.

Volunteers are still working to open the garden. Parties interested in donating to the cause can visit San Diego Community Garden Network; click on "Donate" and type in “Lake Elsinore Community Garden” in the “purpose” box.

According to Monaco, fruits and vegetables from the garden will be donated to needy families.

Lake Elsinore Planning Commission Chair Rick Morsch has provided the design for the project, according to Monaco.
