Wild Wild West BBQ Championship To Play Out In Lake Elsinore

Admission is $5; all proceeds benefit Rotary-sponsored youth programs.

Come hungry because there will be plenty to eat during the 3rd Annual Wild Wild West BBQ Championship, Dec. 31 - Jan. 1, in Lake Elsinore.

This year the event takes place on the shoreline at the new La Laguna Resort & Boat Launch.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wildomar, the showdown features serious BBQ chefs from across the country battling for more than $17,000 in cash and prizes. While the grillmasters work, the public gets to taste! Beyond BBQ, there will be beer and wine, live music, vendors and a kids play area.

The event runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the resort located at 32040 Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore.

Admission is $5; all proceeds benefit Rotary-sponsored youth programs.

For more information, contact Henry Silvestre at 951-445-1903.

Heard at Summerly Golf Course... During my physical, my doctor asked me about my daily activity level, and so I described a typical day this way: "Well, yesterday afternoon, I waded along the edge of a lake, drank eight beers, escaped from wild dogs in the heavy brush, marched up and down several rocky hills, stood in a patch of poison ivy, crawled out of quicksand, jumped away from an aggressive rattlesnake and took four "leaks" behind big trees." Inspired by the story, the doctor said, "You must be one hell of an outdoors man!" "No," I replied, "I'm just a crappy golfer."

I understand its five dollars a person to get in. I'm assuming the five dollars is just admission and any food you wish to try will cost extra. Can you give me an approx. Idea what the price Range will be for the food.

I don't know LBV, but those look good, they look like chili rellenos wrapped in bacon, filled with cheese. If I wasn't going to the river, I would definitely stop by the barbecue, it looks good!!

question: why is this event that is sponsored by the Wildomar Rotary not being held IN Wildomar at a location that would benefit local Wildomar Businesses??? Especially since this group seeks donations and contributions from those same Wildomar businesses? just curious.

@ LBV, SHOULD BE ABOUT 60 DEGREES, I HAVE NEVER CELEBRATED NEW YEARS AT THE RIVER BUT I'AM SURE IT WILL BE FUN, AFTER WORK I AM ON MY WAY!

Well, that's about the same temp here. So cold here, cold there... makes no difference in either place. Have fun, Jill... and Happy New Year!
