Thunder Noise Coming From Camp Pendleton

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away, according to the advisory.

Camp Pendleton training exercises using tanks and high explosive munitions will continue through Monday night and most of Tuesday. As a result, the troops' maneuvers are sending thundering boom noises into Southwest Riverside County.

According to a base advisory, the exercises in the Zulu Impact area of Camp Pendleton will continue until midnight. The exercises are expected to resume Tuesday at 6 a.m. through midnight.
