Lake Elsinore, Wildomar Unemployment Picture Still Improving

Rates dropped across the cities and the county in November.

For the first time in five months, Riverside County's unemployment rate dropped below 12 percent, figures released today show.

The county's non-seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in November, based on preliminary estimates, was 11.5 percent, a half percentage point decline from October, according to the California Employment Development Department.

The rate was 1.2 percentage points below the level of a year ago, when unemployment stood at 12.7 percent.

Lake Elsinore’s November unemployment rate was 11.1 percent, down from the previous month when the rate was 11.7 percent, according to the EDD's non-seasonally adjusted data.

In Wildomar, the rate was 10.1 percent in November 2012, down from the previous month’s figure of 10.6 percent, the data show.

The unincorporated area of Lakeland Village still exceeds area averages. Last month the unemployment rate was 18.3 percent, down from 19 percent in October 2012, according to the data.

Countywide, the civilian labor force numbered 942,200 people, with 108,400 out of work.

The city of Cabazon had the highest unemployment rate countywide, at 28.4 percent, followed by Mecca at 22.9 percent and Homeland at 22.4, according to the EDD.

The combined unemployment rate for Riverside and San Bernardino counties in November was 11.3 percent, down from 11.7 percent the prior month.

Bi-county data indicated payrolls expanded significantly in the retail trade, leisure and hospitality sectors, which altogether added 12,600 jobs. Smaller gains were recorded in business and professional services, as well as telecommunications and agriculture.

The public sector grew by 1,400 jobs, mostly in education.

Payrolls shrank in the health services, construction, manufacturing and financial activities sectors, which shed a total 2,000 positions last month. Another 100 jobs were lost in non-categorized industries, according to the EDD.

The state's non-seasonally-adjusted jobless rate was 9.6 percent. --Toni McAllister contributed to this report.

12% Good Lord, I hope all you sheep are not praising Obama because it went down slightly. This is so wrong. Trust me, he could care less if you are working or not. Its not a priority to him. Keep your heads tucked neatly in the sand.

Liberals created an anti-business climate that resonates throughout California. I know of businesses receiving nuisance citing within the Lake Elsinore City limits and there is no stopping this anti-business climate. Jobs mean nothing to them. Where is Sizzler? Why doesn't a business want to be in Lake Elsinore? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7YhWNqIU1g&feature=share

Lake Elsinore is slowly becoming a ghost town, I went to the Outlet Mall yesterday, the Fox store is gone Lane Bryant is closing their doors and the one end of the Mall is completely full of empty stores? The planning commission needs to get their act together and come up with a plan to bring retailers here, where is Kohls, Ross, TJ Max, Marshalls, Trader Joes, Michaels, every shopping center around us contains these stores, why are they not here????

A public agency should be influencing private businesses? Isn't that Socialism?

You are the one who is suggesting that they take action, Diana. By the way, why the change in your log in name?
One Voice December 22, 2012 at 08:41 PM
Really Carl, the only one that needs to change their name and go away would be you or maybe just go away and take your name with you, yea that would work, bye!

Your post didn't answer either question. I'll spell them out for you again: 1) Why is a Conservative suggesting that a public agency get involved in promoting private business? 2) Why did you feel it necessary to hide behind a new sign in name? Or are you denying that you are Diana?

It's my understanding the outlet center is going out of business early 2013. The city now has three honest votes on the City Council ith the departure of Malicious and Webless. Let's hope they do the right thing and it's not to late. Mano & Hickless should not be able to stop progress as they don't have the necessary 3rd vote at this time.

Carl, what makes you think I would answer any of your questions, get over yourself and your self inflicted power trip.

The Outlet has new Owners, it is my understanding that the empty end of the Mall they will try and get companies to rent, like real estate offices, business offices. I hadn't heard they were going out of business.
