Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church Celebrates Holy Week and Announces Funds for H.O.P.E.

Shepherd of Life Lutheran Church (SOLLC), Lake Elsinore, CA, will be celebrating Holy Week, with Maundy Thursday Service and Good Friday Service at 7:00 pm and Easter Sunday Worship at 9:30 am.  Easter service will be followed by their Annual Breakfast.

SOLLC recently received a $5,000 “Lutheran Community Economic Outreach Bridge Grant” from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation.  These funds are to be used to partner with Helping Our People in Elsinore (HOPE) to help with the organization’s food & backpack ministry.  Filled with food, backpacks are given to selected children to take home with them on the weekends to provide meals for their family.  Currently, HOPE is providing this program in only five schools.  They are looking forward to expanding into all of the elementary schools. 

“We are excited about the opportunity for this funding for our food pantry and
backpack ministry,” said Ron Hewison, HOPE’s CEO.  “The number of meals that we are serving compared to just 2 years ago has gone up 64%.  This grant could not have come at a better time.”

An additional $5,000 grant is available if SOLLC raises more funds.  For every dollar that is raised, Thrivent will match 50 cents on the dollar.  To date, SOLLC has raised an additional $6,562.45 towards their goal of $10,000.  This additional grant is only available through March 31, 2013, so time is of the essence.

At their annual Easter Breakfast, after worship services on Sunday, March 31st, SOLLC will announce the total collected for HOPE along with the grant from Thrivent.  Come and celebrate!
