1 Driver Arrested, 5 Vehicles Impounded At Lake Elsinore DUI Checkpoint

During the operation, 1,216 vehicles passed through the checkpoint that was funded by a state grant.

A Florida man was arrested during a DUI/driver's license checkpoint held at Mission Trail and Malaga Road in Lake Elsinore, a sheriff's sergeant is reporting.

Joshua Ault, 35, of Orlando was collared at the checkpoint that was conducted from approximately 8 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.

The goal of the DUI checkpoint was to remove impaired and suspended drivers from the roadway and raise public awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, according to Sgt. Peter Giannakakos who serves out of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station.

During the operation, 1,216 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, while 37 were diverted to secondary screening, the sergeant reported. Four people were given field sobriety tests, he said.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
