Cold Storms Expected To Bring Snow

"This weather could be deadly for unprepared campers or hikers in the mountains," the National Weather Service warned.

A cold Pacific storm is bringing gusty winds, rain and cooler temperatures today -- and the possibility of snow to the local mountains.

A wind advisory -- with gusts up to 55 mph expected -- was issued through Friday evening for the local mountains and deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm could produce snow and fog in the mountains surrounding the valley at elevations starting at 5,500 feet and lowering to 4,500 feet by Friday night, forecasters said. As much as three or four inches of snow are possible.

The storm is expected to pass by this evening, with sunny skies forecast tomorrow, but a second cold front will make its way to the area by Sunday, according to the NWS.

Forecasters are predicting a 60 percent chance of rain for Lake Elsinore and Wildomar Sunday.

Due to the blustery conditions, the NWS is warning that winds could reduce visibility on roadways and motorists are asked to take precautions.
