Lake Elsinore Gets New BBQ Joint

The Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lake Elsinore expanded their business base by one last month, as Freddy Ray's BBQ cut a ceremonial ribbon and opened in grand style.

"We're proud to open our doors in Lake Elsinore and give residents another unique dining option," said owner Freddy Ray Bryant, as he pulled tickets out for a grand opening raffle last month.

Bryant described his cooking style as original barbecue and said it takes up to 16 hours to get it right, "something very few people are able to do," he explained.

Their award-winning barbecue is all dry rubbed and slow smoked using all natural woods.

Judging from the line out the door during the grand opening, the food is cooked long enough and tastes just right.  

According to Bryant's wife, Jamie, it all started with a catering business.  

"We started out slow and he's gotten real good at making original barbecue," she proudly professed. "Now we're able to open our doors to a new BBQ restaurant and handle catering jobs as well."

The choice of meats at Freddy Ray's, which is located in the Stater Bros. shopping center near Four Corners, includes brisket, pulled pork, hot links, tri-tip and ribs served with a number of different side dishes like home made cole slaw, BBQ beans and sweet cord bread.

Of course, no BBQ dinner is complete without sweet and tasty or spicy sauces and Freddy Ray's has both, two that have the distinction of winning 2011 awards as "Sauces of Honor" by the National BBQ News, according to the Bryants. 

And to top it off, homemade red velvet or sweet potato cupcakes and sweet potato pie are available for dessert.
