Lake Elsinore, Wildomar Unemployment Rates Lower Than County Average; 22.3 Percent Out Of Work In Lakeland Village

Lake Elsinore and Wildomar both fell below the county average in January. Lake Elsinore saw 13.9 percent unemployment, while Wildomar was at 12.6 percent (not seasonally adjusted).

According to a Labor Department report issued March 18, the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro area took the title of “highest unemployment rate in the nation” in January. Its unemployment rate of 14.2 percent was highest among cities with populations of 1 million or more. The second highest was Las Vegas, with 13.7 percent unemployment.

Riverside County hit 14.3 percent unemployment (not seasonally adjusted) in January (see attached).

Lakeland Village’s January non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, 22.3 percent, was significantly higher than the county average. Countywide, only Cabazon with 33.8 percent, Mecca with 27.6 percent, Homeland with 27.1 percent, and Quail Valley with 22.5 percent, saw higher January unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted).

In January, the neighboring cities of Canyon Lake, Murrieta, and Temecula saw unemployment rates that were significantly below the county average, with 8.9 percent, 9.5 percent, and 9.8 percent, respectively (not seasonally adjusted).
