Storm Baseball Issues Statement Following Stadium Evacuation

Fans who attended Thursday's game will be able to redeem their ticket stubs for any Storm game of their choosing, with exception of the July 3 game against the High Desert Mavericks.

An evacuation Thursday night at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore that was prompted by an anonymous call stating there were explosives at the facility turned out to be false.

While there were no injuries and no danger to fans who turned out to watch the Storm take on the Modesto Nuts, the incident led to heavy police activity and an evacuation at the facility. Click here for the full story.

Following the incident, Storm management issued a statement:

"On Thursday night the Storm baseball game was suspended and The Diamond was cleared for the safety of our fans. The Storm evacuated The Diamond due to a call regarding a 'suspicious package.' We worked with the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station to handle the situation peacefully and without incident. ..."

When the game was forced to stop, the Storm and the Nuts were scoreless with RHP Matt Jackson pitching a shutout with five strikeouts and only three hits in 6 1/3 innings of work, the statement continued.

"The game between the Storm and Modesto on Thursday will now be rescheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. with Saturday’s regularly scheduled game to follow 30 minutes after the end of the conclusion of the make-up game," the statement read. Gates will open at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, where the first 1,500 fans will receive a limited edition Storm fleece blanket.

Fans who attended Thursday's suspended game will be able to redeem their ticket stubs for any Storm game of their choosing, with exception of the July 3 game against the High Desert Mavericks, the statement explained.
