Two Men Injured After Falling Into Trench At EVMWD Project Site

Both men were transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

Two men fell into a 20-foot-deep trench while working at an Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District construction site at Diamond Drive and Auto Center Drive in Lake Elsinore Monday afternoon.

When emergency personnel arrived around 3:30 p.m., "they were already out of the trench," said Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann. "Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries."

The men are believed to have been hired by Rancho Cucamonga-based Sandoval Pipeline, but's unclear whether they are employees or subcontractors.
