WEATHER: Will It Snow?

Lake Elsinore and Wildomar will see rain, and maybe even a little snow, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of the Inland Empire, and Lake Elsinore and Wildomar are going to get cold, soaked and maybe a touch of white stuff, the National Weather Service is reporting.

Thunder and a 90 percent chance of rain are forecast Saturday; Sunday will see an 80 percent chance of precipitation, according to the NWS. In total, the area is expected to get an inch of rainfall over the weekend, according to the NWS.

Wildomar City Manager Frank Oviedo said during Wednesday night’s city council meeting that staff will be working over the weekend and is prepared for flooding along some city streets.

Weekend high temperatures will be in the mid to high 50s, dropping down to around 40 degrees at night, the NWS stated.

Two to 4 inches of snow is forecast to drop to the 2,000-foot level late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, which means the Ortega Highway could be affected.

Snow accumulation of up to 1 inch is possible at the 1,500-foot-level, and snow showers could dust down to 1,250 feet, according to the NWS.

Elevation for Lake Elsinore and Wildomar is approximately 1,300 feet above sea level.
