Is Anyone Minding the Store

On November 14, 2012 City Council meeting agenda item 3.3 was passed by a 5-0 vote. The title of the item was “Solid Waste Franchises Second Amendment Additional Services and Fee Adjustments” in which the City of Wildomar negotiated a franchise agreement with a local waste hauler on the westside of the 15 freeway. This agreement called for an additional service of street sweeping 18 curb miles of major arterial roads once a month beginning January 1, 2013, as part of this agreement the sweeper will sweep a path beginning at the face of the curb and include the flow line of the gutter extending out 8 feet. It is now June and 6 months have gone by but Mission Trail from its intersection with Palomar Street extending north to its intersection with Corydon looks like it hasn’t been swept since the county widened Mission Trail back in the 1990's. In most areas the curbs cannot even be seen the dirt is piled up so high, that is unless you happen to be the library or the animal shelter which are spotless. It would not hurt to sweep the center turn lane on occasion as in two spots there are weeds (not the smoking kind) growing up thru the cracks in the center of the roadway. I know the sweeper is going by because every time it goes in front of the Round-Up Market it reminds me of the Pig-Pen character from Charlie Brown. This end of town would rather be forgotten by city hall but we are part of Wildomar.
