What $1.9 million got the citizens of Wildomar

The recent transfer to the City of Wildomar of 27 acres of parkland on June 18th is looked at by some people as a godsend,  I agree it would make a beautiful park just not in the way many of Wildomar’s citizens feel a park should be with ball fields and soccer fields as expressed when their volunteer group kept open the one park that had these amenities allowing the other two to close. Before you get too excited here are some facts about that property that might change you minds. This property is comprised of two parcels located on Porras Rd. wrapping around Ronald Reagan Elementary School.
1. Both parcels have upon it a blue line water watercourse or stream cutting right down the middle of both parcels. (See Photo 1 & 2) Unless permission can be gotten from the Army Corp of Engineers to alter this watercourse no construction can occur within 30 feet of the centerline of this creek on both sides, creating a 60 foot wide path through it.
2. Elevations on the properties. The 20 acres parcel has a minimum elevation of 1412 ft. and a maximum elevation of 1504 ft., that is a difference of 92 ft. (The height of a 9 story building). The low point on the north side is 660 from the roadway placing it dead center of the property line.  The 7 acre parcel has a minimum height of 1392 ft. and a maximum height of 1416 ft. for a difference of 24 ft. (Deep enough to hide a single story house in)
3. This property has a moderate potential for liquefaction during an earthquake and is susceptible to subsidence (the ground could sink)
4. This property has a High Sensitivity to Paleontological finds. (There could be rocks containing fossilized body elements).
5. A study would need to be done to ensure there are no Burrowing Owls, if they are found this limits the time period construction could occur. (February to August are off limits)
6. When the county transferred this property it came with a title impediment held by DRH Energy possibly affecting the borrowing powers in the way of loans and bond issuance on this property in the future
