6 People Injured In Crash

A half-dozen people were injured Tuesday -- two seriously -- in a two-vehicle collision east of Lake Elsinore.

The collision occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Carroll and Nance streets, in the unincorporated community of Mead Valley.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a minivan and a Chrysler PT Cruiser collided, causing the smaller vehicle to roll into a ditch, trapping the occupants.

Two engine crews and a truck company, numbering around 11 firefighters, were sent to the scene and safely freed the victims, according to a report from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Six people were taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment. A fire department spokesman said two people had major injuries, while another had moderate injuries and three people suffered minor injuries.
