Three people have been arrested in Canyon Lake in connection with burglaries in the small city.
Rodney “Cameron” Rice, 20, of Canyon Lake, Dylan Shubin, 19, of Menifee, and Crystal Alford, 31, of Canyon Lake, were all taken into custody Tuesday after deputies pulled them over.
Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, a Canyon Lake police officer investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Vacation Drive and Longhorn Drive in Canyon Lake, according to Sgt. Todd Kelly of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
“The officer located the vehicle, a white Ford F-150, and recognized one of the passengers as 20-year-old Rodney "Cameron" Rice. The officer searched Rice and the vehicle based on terms of Rice's probation,” Kelly reported.
The officer found several items in the truck that he believed to be stolen, the sergeant added.
Meanwhile, a second officer was responding to a burglary call just a short distance away, Kelly said. “Through their investigation, they learned that many of the items in the truck were stolen in the burglary; the property they recovered was worth approximately $1,000,” the sergeant said.
With help from investigators from the Perris Sheriff’s Station, the officers connected other property in the truck to two other burglaries, Kelly said.
All three suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property. Shubin was additionally charged with committing a felony while out on bail. Rice was additionally charged with violating his probation and a gang enhancement.
