Coroner Identifies 2 Women Killed In Weekend Crash

Two women killed in Sunday’s two-vehicle crash on Domenigoni Parkway, east of Temecula, have been identified, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office is reporting.

Monica Rochin, 49, and Rosy Vargas, 35, both of Menifee, died at the scene after the sedan they were traveling in was broadsided by a pickup truck at Leon Road shortly before 12 noon.

Both women were pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Neither was ejected in the crash, according to the coroner’s office.

According to a report from Cal Fire/Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, four other people were injured in the crash and required extrication from the wreckage.  One person with major injuries was transported via air ambulance to an area hospital; three with major injuries were transported via ground ambulance to area hospitals, according to the report.

Animal control was called in to assist two injured dogs – one of the animals was believed to be a Chihuahua.

The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
