Duo Nabbed In Alleged Meth Smuggling Attempt

A Border Patrol K-9 team was called in, and the dog and agents subsequently discovered methamphetamine hidden in the car's dashboard.

Two alleged drug smugglers accused of trying to sneak methamphetamine through the I-15 checkpoint near Temecula were nabbed by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. Monday, agents stopped a 22-year-old driver and his passenger at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint. The pair traveling in a 2006 Nissan Altima, “exhibited nervous demeanors in response to questions and were referred for a secondary inspection,” according to a Sept. 13 news release from the U.S. Border Patrol.

The narcotics weighed 2.09 pounds and had an estimated street value of $41,800, Thursday’s news release stated. 

The suspects' identities were not released by authorities.

The driver, his passenger, and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
