According to Sgt. Patrick Chavez, the suspects were detained the previous day in Oldham County, Texas, by officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety after they were pulled over for an infraction and officers discovered Dodson was a parolee-at-large wanted by the California Department of Corrections.

Chavez said that further investigation revealed the pair were in possession of "methamphetamine and a large sum of U.S. currency.''

Investigators determined the money was stolen during a burglary in Riverside County and contacted sheriff's deputies, according to Chavez.

Chavez said sheriff's detectives learned the cash allegedly was stolen from an elderly Wildomar man who had hired Dodson to do some yard work in mid June.

Texas authorities released the detainees to the custody of sheriff's investigators, and the duo was transported back to Riverside County.

It wasn't immediately known for what conviction Dodson was on parole. --City News Service
