UPDATED: Woman Missing From Care Facility Found Alive In El Centro

Indelisa Rojas was found approximately 170 miles from where she lived.

UPDATED AUG. 23, 2013: A Jurupa Valley woman reported missing Tuesday night after she walked away from the nursing facility where she lives was located today at an El Centro hospital roughly 170 miles away.

The family of 68-year-old Indelisa Rojas was notified around 11 a.m. that she was receiving medical treatment at the hospital, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The nature of her treatment was not revealed, nor were any details on how she ended up at the facility.

Rojas left the Mt. Rubidoux Nursing Center at 33rd Street and Apple Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies called to the location around 3 a.m. Wednesday conducted a street-by- street search with a bloodhound in an attempt to pick up Rojas's trail. The dog followed her scent to 34th Street and Valley Way, a quarter-mile away, where the trail abruptly stopped.

Authorities had feared for the woman's welfare because she suffers from an undisclosed illness that requires her to take daily medication. --City News Service

ORIGINAL POST AUG. 21. 2013: An elderly woman who left her care facility late Tuesday night has been reported missing and police are asking for the public's help in finding her.

Indelisa Rojas, 68, reportedly left the facility located in the 6400 block of 33rd Street in Jurupa Valley at 11 p.m.

She was reported missing to police at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Rojas is considered at risk and in need of medication, according to an alert from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"At 5:48 a.m., a Riverside Sheriff's bloodhound followed Ms. Rojas's scent until losing it at the SW corner of 34th & Valley Way, Jurupa Valley," the alert read.

Rojas is described as:

  • Hispanic female adult, age 68, 4'-11" tall, 86 lbs.  She was last seen wearing a green jacket, red shirt and black pants.
